Relationship is everything. The foundation of therapy. We offer relationships with compassion and the courage to explore difficult things.

Dr Sarah-Jane Knight established a practice in Weybridge in 2014 and in response to local demand, it grew into Commune Psychology in 2020. Commune are a group of psychologists and therapists with a wealth of professional training and experience, working to meet the mental health and wellbeing needs of our community.

Our Services

Child and Adolescent

The team has extensive experience working with adolescents and children. We view adolescents as rewarding to work with as they have a degree of curiosity about themselves and the world which makes it an especially good developmental period for therapy. We offer a range of interventions, from brief behavioural work and parenting support to specialist attachment-focussed therapy and more traditional therapeutic approaches, such as CBT. Confident working with neurodiverse children, our work is tailored to the particular needs of the children we support.

Adult

We work to support people with the challenges of balancing the demands of home, work and relationships. Exploring how early relationships or circumstances are impacting on current functioning. Our practice is founded on compassion but we are also able to focus on practical solutions to everyday challenges.

Family, Couple & Group Work

We navigate complicated roles as parents, children, partners and siblings and can become deeply unsettled when these relationships are stressed. Having someone neutral holding a safe space in which to explore relationship dynamics can help families and couples to move forward when they are feeling stuck in repeating relational patterns.

We are currently running a group for Mum’s of neurodiverse girls. Please get in touch to find out more.

Autism Assessment

Commune has launched a new Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnostic clinic. Led by a highly experienced clinician, we are offering ADOS assessments for children, adolescents and adults.

Training

Sarah-Jane has set-up a psychology service for an international company, contributing towards their wellness policy and engaging both with employees and their families. More recently, she has been working closely with schools and charities to deliver webinars and staff training. We aim to expand this by running groups and delivering training, to help companies/institutions to better understand mental health and optimise mental wellbeing. Coaching, systemic and group psychotherapy training means that we are able to work individually with employees but also to offer support for work teams.

Consultation

Having trained and worked in the NHS, we are experienced in navigating large public sector institutions such as local authorities, social care, mental health teams and educational settings. Sarah-Jane was on the Local Advisory Board for a secondary school and provides psychology consultation to specialist education settings. Commune are able to offer specialist consultation in a range of settings, with a particular interest in consultation around neurodiversity. We provide enhanced psychological formulation and advice for teams supporting people with complex needs.
